At this time, SDUSD schools have almost completed the annual STAR Testing. In this age of accountability, it is so important that our students do well on the tests, but more importantly, we want them to be active participants in their own learning. So this year, we are trying to motivate our students in assemblies and pep rallies to show what they have learned by “doing their best on the test!” Our focus is on the learning and the academic achievement throughout the year, as well as positive youth development. For that reason, on May 14, we will have a special field day to celebrate learning at Longfellow.

On May 26, we will have the “Longfellow Open House,” where students and teachers will welcome families, our most important partners, in order to showcase student work done this year.

This year has passed so quickly and summer is on the horizon, but our students still have a lot to learn and many activities and events, such as the Longfellow Multicultural Festival to enjoy before the 2009-2010 school year comes to a close.
